15 Week Ultrasound
(The top picture is the best view...you can see the head on the right-side of the picture with the profile in view, and it's hand up by it's head in the background. You can kinda see its legs and feet, and its backbone is along the bottom of the picture).
So...after a long drawn-out, ridiculous insurance debacle, I finally got my first dr. appointment! And here are the first pictures of Poppy Seed!! The dr. says that the baby is measuring perfectly, the heartbeat is very healthy, and everything looks great! I am right at 15 weeks, which is farther along than I thought I was, and apparently the baby is the size of a large apple! That's pretty dang big...no wonder I can see my belly sticking out! We got to see the heart beating really fast, and the hands and feet were moving all around as we were watching it on the screen. It was the most amazing experience! Now I officially know that Poppy Seed is real, I am out of my first trimester (which explains why I have been feeling a little better lately), and everything is going smoothly!
So I just thought I would share the excitement of our day with you all. My next appointment is January 13th, and we will be able to find out the sex at that time! YAY!!!!

Preggo Cravings
Pickles and ice cream, mayonnaise and Snickers, Chinese food and chocolate...It seems like the first thing everyone thinks of when they think of pregnancy is cravings. At least, that is the first thing everyone asks me when they hear I am having a baby. So since my life is an open book now that I am a blogger, I think I will just go on record once and for all and talk about my own personal pregnancy cravings.
Sorry to let everyone down, but so far, I really have not had the intense cravings that I expected to have. I mean let's be honest, it doesn't take a bun in the oven to make me crave chocolate all the time! But I have really not felt like eating much of anything since this baby came into my life, which makes my craving stories less than exciting.
Because I feel sick about 80% of the time, there are really only a few things that even sound appetizing to me to eat. And more often than not, the only things that sound good, are light foods such as crackers and fruit. So I developed a theory about cravings...that they really aren't cravings in the sense of "I have to eat that right this minute," as much as they are cravings in the sense of "that is really the only thing I can tolerate going into my stomach right now."
So in that light, here are the things I have been "craving" since I found out I was pregnant:

- Plain old boring Saltines
- Goldfish
- Strawberries
- Panera chicken noodle soup (yes, it has to be from Panera)
- Cornflakes
- Bagels
- Ginger ale
- Plain toaster waffles with nothing on them
- Bananas
- Grapefruit Juice
- Grilled cheese sandwiches
- And wine (but only because I cannot have it I think)

Chunk Pictures
I decided that I wanted to start documenting my belly to see the progress. But I am not so regular with it, so I just have a few pictures to add. These are from weeks 5, 6 and 9. No one could tell that I already had a baby bump except me at the beginning. But that little bump under my belly button isn't normally there. But by week 9, I think we can definitely start to see the chunk! I don't think I'm supposed to be showing yet....I really hope that doesn't mean I'm having twins!

Mommy Blog Take 1
Well, it seems that I am indeed pregnant. If it weren’t for the multiple positive pregnancy tests that told me, my overwhelming side effects are screaming that there is in fact some foreign object inside, disrupting my normal life.
So, at the request of several friends, I am starting a blog so that everyone who is interested can keep up with the progress of this little Poppy Seed (which is our name for the baby).I am a little over 9 weeks now, which means that this blog, which I probably should have started at the very beginning, has some back-tracking to do. I will now catch you up on what you have missed……
WEEK 3: We found out we were pregnant. No real symptoms yet, except some serious sleepiness.
WEEK 4: Holy crap this baby didn’t wait long to make me uncomfortable……Nausea. Intense fatigue. Bloating. Abdominal Pain. Constipation. Loss of Appetite.
WEEK 5: More nausea, fatigue, bloating, abdominal pain, constipation and loss of appetite.
WEEK 6: We told the family this week, and they are really excited….oh yea: Nausea. Fatigue. Bloating. Abdominal Pain. Constipation. Loss of Appetite.
WEEK 7: Add hot flashes and a little bit of throwing up to the above list.
WEEK 8: See weeks 6 and 7.
WEEK 9: And you guessed it….more of the same. But this week I passed my real estate exam, which makes this week the most productive week I have had in a month and a half!
Well, that pretty much catches you up on what you missed so far. But from now on, I will be updating my blog regularly, so you can stay updated on how everything is going, and how fat I am getting.
